It is with pleasure that I serve as this year’s president of the Massachusetts Association of Women Lawyers. For over 108 years, M.A.W.L. has succeeded in meeting its objectives to “promote the professional excellence and advancement of women lawyers” as well as “support the civic, educational, and social interests of the profession.” I will endeavor to carry on this long-standing tradition.
We enter this term with increased membership and increased energy and revitalization. In recent years, our Board of Directors has been rounded out by many up-and-coming young lawyers. Through their hard work, we have been able to expand membership far beyond our base. Among many events we have planned for this year, we are looking forward to a Membership Appreciation night on September 26, 2013 at Vlora in Boston. Myself and the Board look forward to thanking present members for their continued support as well as meeting lawyers interested in becoming part of M.A.W.L.
As in prior years, M.A.W.L. will be hosting its annual Holiday Toast on December 17th at the College Club in Boston. Additionally, we are in the process of planning another banquet for this Spring when we will honor another “Distinguished Jurist.” We enjoyed terrific success this past June when we honored Judge Amy Lyn Blake as the 2013 Distinguished Jurist. Additionally, the Board and Officers continue to plan additional events for our membership during the year, which you can follow on our website.
This is a very exciting time to be part of M.A.W.L. and I look forward to my work as President this year.
